Hyundai Venue Long-term Review

Hyundai India launched its first connected compact SUV Venue back in 2019, lets check out this SUV in long term.





















Exterior design

Unlike other Hyundai cars,venue carries out new generation design. First up, you see a large cascade grill which looks outstanding,split design which consist of turn indicator mounted on top,then comes the headlight unit and to the bottom carries a projector fog lamps.


Moving to side profile of car,it just resembles character of Creta.  Cosmetic touches like chrome door handles,piano black finish on a pillar and rear looks good.Chrome door handles are nice touch and  looks highlighting.R16 dual tone alloy wheels match the side profile of car,roof rails on the top gives a sporty look.


Rear profile looks some sort of hatchback,but in real world it just matches the overall car profile.LED tail lights with crystal effect looks fabulous at night.Moving to lower bumper it gets parking sensor's,rear view camera and lights below,provide great visibility during the backward movement of vehicle.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Cosmatic touches such as chrome door handles,paino black finish,R16 dune tone alloy remain in good condition

INTERIOR 

Well just like exterior, interior is very impressive.

Well what to say about the interior,just like other Hyundai cars,the quality of interior is impressive,especially leather wrapped steering wheel,leather-fabric seat upholstery are impressive provide a good comfort on long journeys.What makes the cabin good is presence of sunroof and air purifier which brings in some light and clean air in cabin and makes cabin experience even better.

Layout of dash is neat for instance soft texture on dash.Silver inserts around ac vents.Leather wrapped steering wheel consists of media controls,voice command,cruise control,calling functions and feels good to hold. At centre,sits 8 inch touchscreen which consist of andriod auto,apple car play,bluelink connectivity features and arkamys sound system which provides pleasing audio quality.
Lets move to convenience features provided in Venue.First up, it gets a wireless charger, air purifier, cooled glove box, auto climate control,storage area on co-driver side,auto headlamps,telimatics buttons on IRVM,keyless entry,engine push start/stop button,rear ac vents,rear view camera and rear parking sensors.

Rear seats have a good recline angle which makes it comfortable for
long journeys,provides good under thigh support,gets adjustable headrests and armrest with cupholders.Rear AC vents are best part in backseat,which are useful during hot summer days provide great cooling to rear seat passengers.For your smartphones or any other devices you get 12V socket placed just below the rear AC vents.

HOW IS IT LIKE TO DRIVE

The one which I have got is 1.4 Diesel Engine(BS4) which produces 90HP and 220NM torque.This engine is mated to 6 speed manual transmission.Talking about Ride quality,the clutch is light and gear shift is smooth and has an impressive mileage of 23.7.But in reality,in city it can manage to give between 14-15kmpl and on highway it will give around 19-21kmpl.
 
Although efficiency of engine depends upon driving behaviour,this engine is well tuned. Power comes in when you pass 1700rpm to 3000rpm and the way power delivered is linear,suspension setup is stiff which provides good handling on roads.Cabin is well insulated and can hear engine noise,only when you demand more power.While on roads, the suspension works best to keep you comfortable on bad roads.

  • Engine remains in good condition and no problem occured till now
  • Only SUV in segment to get wheel air curtain which reduces drag on wheels
  • In long term clutch remains light and comfortable

SAFETY FEATURES

Talking about safety,Venue is built on new platform which uses both  advanced high strength steel and high strength steel,to provide good protection to passengers.Safety features includes dual airbag,ABS,EBD come standard across all variants.Top spec Venue gets 6 airbag,electronic stability control,vehicle stability management,hill start assist,ISOFIX child seat mounts,brake assist,cornering lamp,anti-pinch sunroof,driver side power window  auto up/down with anti-pinch,Blue link technology which takes safety to next level by providing emergency services.

CONCLUSION

  • Hyundai India named this SUV Venue,as we spend most of our time in cars and has done great job to keep us comfortable,safe and overall provides a great driving experience
  • The only SUV in segment which gets new genaration design
  • By far,the best SUV designed for Millennials
  • Good engine options for everyone for instance 1.0L turbo petrol with MT/DCT,1.2L petrol with MT and 1.5L diesel with MT
  • All Engines are BS6 compliant.
  • Looking for stylish SUV with cool features,Hyundai Venue is a good choice.
